In-depth stories from guests who stayed with Korean families
My homestay in Seoul was the highlight of my trip to Korea. My host family treated me like their own daughter. We cooked Korean food together, visited local markets, and they even taught me a few Korean phrases. I still keep in touch with them. This experience was so much more meaningful than staying in a hotel.
I stayed with a family in Busan for three weeks while studying Korean. The host mother prepared incredible homemade meals every day, and the host father took me fishing on weekends. The Local Buddy assigned to me showed me hidden spots that tourists never find. I improved my Korean faster than I ever could in a classroom alone.
As a solo female traveler, I was a bit nervous about staying with strangers, but Homestay Korea made the process smooth and safe. The verification process gave me confidence, and my host family in Incheon was incredibly warm. We celebrated Chuseok together and I learned to make songpyeon. An experience I will cherish forever.
I came to Korea for a month to teach English through the tutoring exchange program. In return, I got free accommodation with an amazing family in Daegu. Their kids were eager to learn and I picked up so much Korean from daily conversations. The best part was being invited to family dinners and weekend outings like a real member of the family.
I stayed in a traditional hanok in Jeonju and it was a dream come true. Waking up to the sound of birds in the courtyard, eating homemade bibimbap, and wearing hanbok for a local festival. My host grandmother taught me Korean calligraphy every evening. This was my third visit through Homestay Korea and I keep coming back for more.
Our university group of 15 students did a two-week homestay through Homestay Korea's agency program. Every student was matched with a wonderful family. The coordinator was responsive and organized everything from airport pickup to cultural activities. Several students said it was the most impactful part of their entire study abroad semester.
