Your Bridge Between Cultures
The Local Buddy Program pairs international homestay guests with Korean university students who serve as cultural guides. As a buddy, you will help guests navigate daily life in Korea, explore neighborhoods, try local food, and understand Korean customs firsthand.
This is more than volunteering. It is a meaningful cultural exchange where you practice foreign languages, build global friendships, and develop skills that stand out on your resume. Many of our buddies say this experience changed their perspective on the world.
Requirements
What we look for in our Local Buddies
Conversational English
You should be able to hold everyday conversations in English comfortably. You do not need to be fluent, but you should be able to explain directions, recommend restaurants, and chat about Korean culture in English.
Time Commitment
Buddies typically meet their assigned guest 2 to 3 times per week for 2 to 4 hours each session. The schedule is flexible and arranged between you and the guest to fit around your classes and other commitments.
